November 15, 2019: Identifying a Language Difference Versus Disorder in ELL Students: PART 1
Objectives:
- Identify red flags for language disorders in the ELL population
- Complete a guided reflection based on an ELL student from your school/district
- Receive a “toolkit” to support documenting concerns prior to referral
- Increase collaboration between special education staff and ELL staff during the evaluation process
Attendees: SLPs, School Psychs, EL staff & coordinator(s), special education teachers, bilingual teachers, LEAs
December 18, 2019: Bilingual Evaluation for Monolingual Evaluators: PART 2
Objectives:
- Review red flags and application of previous knowledge
- Understand their role in the “Interpreters & SLPs: Working Together” relationship
- Assess the readiness of their own “toolkit” for bilingual language evaluation
- Understand the important components in a bilingual language evaluation report
Attendees: SLPs, School Psychs, special education teachers who complete evaluations, diagnosticians, and others who participate frequently on evaluation teams
Participant Cancellation Policy:
You must contact CESA 4 to cancel attendance one week prior to the scheduled event unless otherwise stated in the individual event details. CESA 4 will only provide full refund of registration fees depending on individual circumstances. Refunds depend upon the ability of CESA 4 to cancel any financial obligations created by the registration such as meals, materials, etc. CESA 4 reserves the right to cancel any workshop due to insufficient enrollment. Participants will be notified by e-mail or phone if a workshop is cancelled. If a participant is a 'no show' the school will be billed for the registration fee, or loss of the 'free' attendance slot.
Dietary Restrictions:
Because of the number of meals served, number of ingredients used, and food product changes from vendors, we cannot guarantee dietary restrictions as indicated in a user's myQuickReg profile will be accommodated. Participants with dietary restrictions such as food allergies should plan to bring their own refreshments.
Weather Conditions:
If a workshop has been cancelled due to weather conditions, every effort will be made to reschedule the workshop. If weather conditions are questionable, please call CESA 4 Voice Mail at (608) 786-4800; Toll Free (800) 514-3075. A message will be posted regarding workshop weather cancellations.
Additional Accommodations:
