Description: The CESA 2 Language and Culture Center presents EL Live Webinars for 2019-20. Join us for one or more of our EL Live Webinars featuring important topics related to effectively educating multi-lingual learners. Register for each webinar individual. 

Oct. 23, 2019: Building Academic Vocabulary for EL Success
Understand why academic vocabulary is difficult for multi-lingual learners and learn how to implement 4 high-yield strategies for building academic vocabulary all from the comfort of your classroom or home. 

Jan 15, 2020: Identifying Potential Giftedness
Understand how to address the issues and difficulties of identifying potential giftedness in multi-lingual learners. 

April 22, 2020: Moving from Assessment to Instruction (using data to guide EL instruction)
As ACCESS scores begin to return to your district, gain a deeper understanding of how the ACCESS Scores are calculated, how to use the scale score to determine appropriate growth, and specific ways to use ACCESS data to plan effective instruction of ELs.

  • $59 per webinar for all other districts

About the Presenters:

Tere Masiarchin provides high quality and relevant professional development, needs assessment, and program support to school districts and teachers with culturally and linguistically diverse students. Tere comes to CESA 2 from CESA 6 where she was the Director of the Language and Culture Center.  Tere had previously spent 11 years in the Clintonville School District as the EL/Bilingual/Title III/21st CCLC Director and has been an adjunct professor at the UW-Green Bay. Tere is a national SIOP trainer and Thinking Maps Trainer.

 

 

 

 

 

Robin Rivas has worked as a teacher and administrator for 34 years with culturally and linguistically diverse  populations. Robin has also consulted in the areas of program development and professional learning and taught future educators at the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee.

 


Cancellation Policy: Registered participants will receive a refund if they cancel prior to 3 working days before an event, minus any material costs that have already been incurred. Cancellations must either be made on MyQuickReg or by emailing cancel@cesa2.org. Because of our commitment to the presenter and the food vendor, participants who cancel less than 3 working days prior to the event or who do not attend the event, will be billed the full fee. CESA 2 reserves the right to cancel any event. Registered participants will be notified via phone and email if a cancellation occurs and will receive a full refund. 

Inclement Weather Policy: Every effort will be made to hold an event. CESA 2 will notify participants via email as soon as possible if an event has been cancelled due to weather conditions.

In-Person Events: Restrictions on our in-person events due to COVID-19 have been lifted. We will be responsive to what's happening within our communities, and guidelines from the CDC and local health agencies for future offerings and will update guidelines when necessary.
