Computational Thinking:
It’s not just for Computer Science!
Computational Thinking is one of the seven Wisconsin Standards for Information and Technology Literacy. When individuals think of computational thinking their mind typically jumps to computer science or math, but it is so much more! Computational thinking occurs throughout everyday life and in every content area. It is has been called the 5th C of 21st Century Skills, a competency necessary for all fields.
Participants participating in the workshop “Embedding Computational Thinking into Content Areas” will
• Develop an understanding of and common language around computational thinking (What)
• Relate Computational Thinking to society, life skills, and standards (Why)
• Curate strategies and lessons to embed computational thinking in content areas (How)
• Hands on experience with relevant educational technologies
This workshop is a modified version of the Embedding Computational Thinking in the K-5 Curriculum workshop that was offered in June 2019
