Presenter: Ron Mirr

Cost: $717 Non-members, $597 for CESA 2 Title III Consortium Members

Description: Scholastic and Dr. Karen Mapp have created a comprehensive training series that helps educators engage families in meaningful partnerships focused on improving student achievement.

This series of three full-day interactive workshops will equip your team with everything they’ll need to implement a comprehensive family and community engagement plan.

  • Three training sessions led by expert family engagement practitioners
  • Participant guides and interactive activities
  • Hands-on strategies that can be implemented immediately
  • Yearlong action plan

In order to maximize the impact of the series, teams of five should participate in all three trainings. Your team should include:

  • Central office administrators
  • Principals
  • Teachers
  • Family and community representatives

About the Presenter:

Ron Mirr has nearly 30 years of experience working with K–12 schools and social service agencies on how to engage families and community partners in the learning process. Ron was most recently Senior Vice President of Learning Supports and Family and Community Engagement (FACE) at Scholastic. He is a co-author of the Family Engagement Assessment—a tool that measures a school’s capacity for developing effective partnerships with families. While at Scholastic, Ron focused on helping schools address barriers to learning by engaging families and strengthening wrap-around services for students.
