“Co-teaching—the practice of having special education and regular education teachers work together in inclusive classrooms—is one way to ensure that all students have equal access to challenging academic content. But the practice is a challenging one, requiring thoughtful planning and execution by cooperative classroom professionals. Universal Design for Learning (UDL), a framework for designing inclusive learning environments, offers co-teachers structure and guidance in pursuing their goal to create successful learning environments for all students.” -Elizabeth Stein
During this workshop, participants will learn strategies to effectively use the co-teaching approach and UDL framework to meet the needs of all learners. Because Elevating Co-Teaching Through UDL is the foundational resource for this work, each participant will receive their own copy. Optional follow-up virtual coaching after this workshop is also part of the support offered to participants.
Workshop Learning Targets:
- I can explain how co-teaching and planning with the UDL framework is a way to meet the needs of all learners.
- I can identify co-teaching strategies to implement the UDL framework for my/our context.
- I can create a plan of action to most effectively use the co-teaching approach to implement the UDL framework.
