Does every learner benefit from your instruction and the learning environment? Are the lessons you use to support learning planned from the perspective of the learner and the lesson goal? Are they driven by high expectations for students to not only master knowledge and skills, but master learning itself like experts do? This Lab will give participants opportunities to explore design thinking and investigate key ideas to support instruction using UDL. Participants will also have an opportunity to join 2 virtual coaching sessions connected to their learning.
Using strategies from Neil Alberro, CAST Implementation Coach, participants will deepen their understanding of UDL while also creating plans to use in the coming school year. Be sure to come with a series of lessons in mind to “UDL-ize”!
Learning Targets:
· I can reflect on my current teaching practice.
· I can gain working knowledge of Universal Design for Learning as a framework for proactively removing barriers.
· I can design lessons through the lens of UDL— always keeping the learner at the center of the design.
