New Teacher Institute:
Using the Standards of Effective Educators to Engage and Support New Teachers
This two-day workshop presents strategies, tips, and suggestions for getting through the first few weeks, the first few months, and the entire year. We will focus on the standards of effective educators to hone in on instructional planning and preparation; creating and promoting a positive classroom environment; establishing a positive culture within the classroom and the school; developing relationships with all stakeholders; grading, assessment, and feedback; and engaging all students through lesson delivery, project-based learning, personalized learning, and student voice and choice.
The first few years in the classroom are probably the most challenging of a teacher’s career. While many education classes are offered in college, they do not always teach the basics of getting started. Not only does the new teacher have to worry about presenting the curriculum and meeting local and state benchmarks, but there are day-to-day issues as well. The learning curve can be fast and furious, and some teachers feel completely overwhelmed just on the first day.
Take control of your year before it starts and be ready to enjoy the roller coaster!
Cost: $75 (Includes 2 days of training, breakfast, lunch, and books)
Audience: Teachers in their first 3 years of teaching
