The New Coaches Academy is a three-part workshop series designed to be taken in sequence with the focus on K-12 but will be organic to participants. Resources and discussion will be driven by participants based on needs, questions, and interests. Questions ahead of time are encouraged.
Day 1 - October 2nd, 2019: Kickoff to Coaching

- How to get started with coaching: Developing norms and exploring the instructional coaching cycle
- Building relationships and differentiating for adult learners
- Characteristics of effective coaches
- Coaching scenarios and practice
Day 2 - Novemver 4th, 2019: Leveraging Communication
Topics covered in this session:
- Fostering dialogue: Listening with empathy, asking better questions, and providing productive feedback
- Addressing resistance and curtailing unproductive attitudes
- Coaching scenarios and practice
Day 3 - December 3rd, 2019: Practical Approaches for Impacting Instruction
Topics covered in this session:
- Using data to inform the coaching relationship
- Branding the coach approach as a key component of continuous improvement
- Building your instructional playbook
- Coaching scenarios and practice
Audience: Instructional Coaches, Principals, Curriculum Directors, Literacy Coaches, Technology Coaches, Mentors

Registration fee*: $165
*Includes 3 days of training, breakfast, lunch, and materials. This low-cost event is courtesy of the Peer Review and Mentor Grant and requires a minimum number of attendees in order to take place.
