CESA 7 is proud to partner with Code.Org to offer this interactive and powerful training designed to help teachers implement courses for grades K-5.
Code.org is offering a new full-day workshop, CS Fundamentals Deep Dive, designed for K-5 teachers who have experience teaching CS Fundamentals and are looking to dive deeper or get more support.
Workshop Goals:
- Teachers will understand the details, philosophy, values, and rationale behind how CS Fundamentals is structured
- Teachers will understand the intended approach to teaching CS Fundamentals, including specific classroom practices
- Teachers will be equipped to bring more computer science to their students
What teachers will leave with:
- Strategies for addressing roadblocks to implementation
- Ideas for fostering a strong classroom rapport that nurtures all kinds of learners
A deepened sense of community with other CS Fundamentals teachers
About the presenter:
Sandy Bader has worked as an elementary Technology Training Specialist in the De Pere School District for the past 21 years, working with K-4 staff, students and administrators to integrate technology in their classrooms. In recent years, she has focused on bringing computer science concepts and coding into all elementary classrooms. Prior to teaching in De Pere, Sandy obtained a master's degree in Computer Science from UW-Madison, worked at IBM as a systems engineer for nine years, and taught computer science at St. Norbert College for three years. In her free time, she likes being with family, playing piano, reading, and spending time in Door County

Workshop Cost: $25 (Lunch and snacks included)

This option is available to our partnership districts who have purchased Learning Service days and would like to utilize some of their CESA 7 contract days to provide additional support for their teachers implementing this new resource.
