Session 1: Building the Highly-Effective Math Classroom

This exciting workshop will focus on high-impact instructional practices that will immediately transform the math classroom into a learning atmosphere that promotes reasoning, deep thinking, and perseverance. Topics that will be addressed are learning intentions and success criteria, lesson plan design, the NCTM Professional Standards for Teaching Mathematics, the math practice standards and student discourse.

Workshop Objectives:

Participants will leave with:

  • strategies that support a student-centered environment rich in thinking, reasoning, and persevering.
  • a lesson plan design that promotes increase student engagement and dialogue.

Session 2: Building the Highly-Effective Math Classroom

This workshop will provide the participant with the research behind the high-yield practices that increase student-student dialogue, feedback, and engagement. During the session, consultants will model many strategies that teachers can use in their classroom immediately.

Workshop objectives

Participants will leave with:

  • practical strategies to use and model to increase student engagement, feedback, and student-student discourse.

Session 3: Building the Highly-Effective Math Classroom

This workshop will provide the participant with the math models and representations that help students progress through concrete, representational and abstract understanding of all operations with whole numbers and fractions/decimals.

Workshop objectives:

Participants will leave with :

  • understanding of an effective progression of learning in mathematics
  • concrete models and representations for each grade level 
  • knowledge of how to increase number sense and fluency with these models

Who should attend?

Math teachers, coaches, and administrators

 

Cost: (includes material only, lunch not included)

$300 per person for all 3 days or

$125 per person per session for single session attendance

Cancellation Policy:

Any registration cancellation must be received at least 8 business days before event in order for a full conference fee refund to be issued (full refunds do not include service fees. Service fees are nonrefundable).Registration cancellations received 1-7 business days before an event, a refund, minus $50 for each participant, will be issued. Persons who are registered, but not in attendance on the day of the session ("no call, no show") will be charged the full registration fee. CESA 6 reserves the right to cancel any session due to insufficient enrollment. Participants will be notified by email if a cancellation occurs.
