Will your school district be implementing the Lucy Calkins Units of Study in Reading in 2019 - 2020?  If yes, join Erin Loritz, Literacy Consultant for this one-day workshop to get a jumpstart on your training. Participants will get an introduction to the materials in the kit, guidance in establishing structures and routines for successful implementation and tips and tricks to ensure successful implementation.

OBJECTIVES

Participants will:

  • Gain a greater understanding of the materials included in the kit.
  • Understand the structures and routines necessary to implement the units of study with fidelity.
  • Consider which mini-lessons to teach in order to launch a reading workshop.
  • Understand the components of and the rationale for the on-demand assessments.


THIS WORKSHOP IS A GOOD FIT FOR

Classroom teachers in grades 3-5, reading teachers, reading specialists, literacy coaches and administrators.


PARTICIPANTS SHOULD BRING

Lucy Calkins Reading Units of Study kits.


COST *:  $150 per participant
* Principal's Rate = $35 if attending with a team of at least 4 additional staff members.

Cancellation policy: Any registration cancellation must be received at least 8 business days before event in order for a full refund to be issued. Registration cancellations received 1-7 business days before an event, a refund, minus $50 for each participant, will be issued. Persons who are registered, but not in attendance on the day of the session ("no call, no show") will be charged the full registration fee. CESA 6 reserves the right to cancel any session due to insufficient enrollment. Participants will be notified by email if a cancellation occurs.
