Guided reading, a key component of a comprehensive literacy program, provides a framework for teachers to flexibly group students to meet their individual needs.

We will explore the guided reading instructional decisions needed to move readers forward in the primary grades. Decision points include using assessments to group students and pinpoint a focus; choosing an appropriate text; prompting for strategic processing; targeting phonics skills for guided word study; and integrating guided writing. The presentation will also introduce RISE--a powerful, short-term intervention based on Jan’s Next Step lesson framework.

Because of commitments to the venue, presenters, vendors and participants, no refund of any kind, for any reason, will be given for cancellation requests received after July 26, 2019.
