This one day workshop is designed for classroom teachers who have taught WWS and/or those who are just beginning to use the workshop model. The overall goal is to help all teachers foster a love for writing for all students by digging into the Writing Units of Study to intentionally set students up for success!  (must bring Writing Units of Study teacher books)


  • Applying research to practice
  • Understanding how to teach components of a mini lesson
  • Utilizing all elements of the Writing workshop model
  • Using management, structures, and routines to promote student success
  • Setting goals and providing feedback to move all learners forward
  • Exploration of the resources as tools in your toolkit
  • Using the learning progression to inform instructional decisions
  • Planning the launch unit

For our partnership districts: Sign up for teacher grade level teams to receive additional follow-up and support days with Charla throughout the school year to provide job-embedded professional development opportunities. This option is available to our partnership districts who have purchased Learning Service days and would like to utilize some of their CESA 7 contract days to provide additional support for their teachers implementing this new resource.  For more information on this option please call Charla Meyer at 920-617-5647.

Registration Fees:

$89 per participant for CESA 7 2019-20 Learning Services Partnership/Full Member

$109 per participant for CESA 7 2019-20 Learning Services Traditional/Limited Member

$129 for Non-Learning Service Member 

Lunch is on your own. Registration includes handouts.

Due to changing policies in many of our CESA 7 School District accounting offices, CESA 7 requests that all workshop fees be paid in advance with a check or purchase order. If it is not possible for you to secure payment from your school district prior to the workshop, we suggest that you pay personally and request reimbursement from your school district. Receipts will be available. CANCELLATIONS: Cancellations must be faxed (920-492-5965) or e-mailed five (5) working days prior to the date of the event. We are unable to provide refunds for no shows. DIETARY ACCOMMODATIONS: Due to varied dietary restrictions, CESA 7 cannot guarantee that all special dietary accommodations can be met. CESA 7 makes every effort to accommodate basic dietary restrictions with advance notice, but please plan accordingly.
