'SHIFT' OVERVIEW

  1. SHIFTING PERSPECTIVES - Putting the learner in position of control
  • Collectively define the powerful portrait of a graduate
  • Identify shifts in educator and student roles to reach new levels of performance
  • Examine the skills necessary to shift perspectives
  1. SHIFTING PRACTICES - Using best practices instruction
  • Expand the use of instructional strategies to develop self-directed learners
  • Evaluate educational designs that best support the learner
  • Explore and create on-going and authentic formative assessment strategies to inform instruction
  • Provide tools for students to further engage in collaboration, inquiry and academic discourse
  1. SHIFTING PROCESSES -- Transforming thinking
  • Identify indicators for a school culture of achievement
  • Create and implement tools designed to strengthen school culture
  • Connect the work of SHIFT with educator performance systems and cycles

JOIN THE SHIFT INSTITUTE for the 2019 - 2020 SCHOOL YEAR

  1. TWO DAY SUMMER LAUNCH CONFERENCE (8/21/19 - 8/22/19)
  • Emphasis will be on transforming and evolving educators perspectives, practices, and processes
  1.  TWO PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT DAYS (12/12/19 and 3/10/20)
      Participants will take a deep dive into:
  • School and classroom culture
  • Teaching and learning tools
  • Educator and learner agency
  • Student collaboration, inquiry, and academic discourse
  1. TEAM SUPPORT VIA ONLINE COMMUNITY OF PRACTICE (A 60 MINUTE SESSION EVERY 6 WEEKS)
  • Leadership strategies for ensuring success
  • Implementation ‘check in’: sharing your collection of evidence
  • Cross district collaboration: ‘getting better, together’
  1. THE CESA 6 SHIFT LEADERSHIP TEAM WILL FACILITATE 6 SCHOOL TEAM MEETINGS THROUGHOUT THE SCHOOL YEAR
  • The focus will be on building capacity, leadership, and sustainability at individual sites
  • Your SHIFT leader will provide agendas, content, and structure for the 6 school team meetings


SHIFT Institute Fee = $4,750 per school team

  • A school team may include up to 8 teachers and leaders
  • The two day Summer Launch Conference (8/21/19 - 8/22/19)
  • Two professional development days within the school year (12/12/19 and 3/10/20)
  • 'Community of Practice' - A 60 minute online session every 6 weeks
  • 6 in-school team meetings with guidance and support provided by your CESA 6 SHIFT leader


CESA 6 SHIFT LEADERSHIP TEAM

Heather Anderson is a published author who consults across the nation, sharing her passion for high student engagement with an emphasis on differentiated instruction and student collaboration. Heather has extensive experience in the gradual release of responsibility framework.

 

Anne Pagel supports intermediate and secondary teacher teams through the process of infusing high yield literacy strategies, collaboration and student discourse into their curriculum, positively impacting student learning and self-efficacy.

Cancellation Policy:

Any registration cancellation must be received at least 8 business days before event in order for a full conference fee refund to be issued (full refunds do not include service fees. Service fees are nonrefundable).Registration cancellations received 1-7 business days before an event, a refund, minus $50 for each participant, will be issued. Persons who are registered, but not in attendance on the day of the session ("no call, no show") will be charged the full registration fee. CESA 6 reserves the right to cancel any session due to insufficient enrollment. Participants will be notified by email if a cancellation occurs.
