The Responsive Classroom approach to teaching and learning fosters a safe, challenging, and joyful classroom.  Developed by classroom teachers, this approach consists of teaching practices for bringing together social and academic learning throughout the school day, as well as developing inner rewards and empathy through the CARES principles.

Day 1 (10/1/19) will consist of the first four components of Responsive Classroom:

  • Morning Meeting
  • Guidelines Creation
  • Interactive Modeling
  • Logical Consequences

Day 2 (2/3/20) will be a workshop model that will consist of:

  • Teacher Language
  • Academic Choice
  • Guided Discovery
  • Classroom Organization
  • Collaborative Problem-Solving

Participants that attend both Days 1 and 2 will receive a certificate of completion from CESA 5.

Who should attend: K-8 educators

Registration fee (both days):

  • $200 for CESA 5 Safe & Healthy Schools Members and CESA 5 School Improvement Members
  • $400 for All Others
Cancellation Policy: Registered participants will receive a full refund if they cancel before 10 working days before an event, minus any material costs that have already been incurred. Because of our commitment to the trainer and the food vendor, participants who cancel less than 10 working days or do not attend, will be billed the full fee. CESA 5 reserves the right to cancel any event. Registered participants will be notified via email if a cancellation occurs and will receive a full refund. Inclement weather policy: Every effort will be made to hold an event. CESA 5 will notify participants via email as soon as possible if an event has been canceled due to weather conditions.
