This workshop will engage participants in a workgroup-type environment to collaboratively develop science assessments. We will begin the day with some brief, common grounding on effective assessment and then break into grade and content groups to develop performance tasks and rubrics. Groups will share and receive feedback on their assessments during the day. Educators are encouraged to come with teams.


Attendance of DAY ONE is NOT a requirement to attend DAY TWO, though participants should have attended introductory professional learning on NGSS/WSS.

Key Goals:

As a result of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Create and revise effective 3D, phenomenon-based assessments examples 
  • Design rubrics for performance tasks 
  • Envision how systems of assessment work together


Who should attend?

K-12 Teachers, Instructional coaches, Curriculum specialists, and others who teach or design science instruction.


Registration fee:  $100 per participant (includes materials and lunch)

Cancellation Policy:

Any registration cancellation must be received at least 8 business days before event in order for a full conference fee refund to be issued (full refunds do not include service fees. Service fees are nonrefundable).Registration cancellations received 1-7 business days before an event, a refund, minus $50 for each participant, will be issued. Persons who are registered, but not in attendance on the day of the session ("no call, no show") will be charged the full registration fee. CESA 6 reserves the right to cancel any session due to insufficient enrollment. Participants will be notified by email if a cancellation occurs.
