Description: Join SLPs from around the state during this live stream event to delve deeper into ways SLPs can support students in their natural enviroments. Participants will have the opportunity to identify and use tools that address barriers to employing evidence-based inclusive practices. Network with SLPs across the state to gain an understanding around strategies and practices that are working in Wisconsin, and reflect on current practices in your district to determine reasonable next steps.

About the Presenter: Andrea earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Communicative Disorders from the University of Wisconsin - Madison and has 18 years of experience working with students with disabilities and their families in the Madison Metropolitan School District. Andrea has provided services to students across all levels (Pre-K through 12) in both public and private school settings. She has prioritized supporting students in developing functional communication and in considering the least restrictive environment in provision of service. During her time at MMSD, Andrea served as the Program Support Teacher for Speech and Language for three years where she supported the district’s 80 clinicians. She spent four years as a diagnostician for the District, evaluating students age 3 to 21 for special education services. Andrea brings wealth of experience working with students who have a diverse range of racial, ethnic, and socio-economic backgrounds. Most recently, Andrea has worked as a Program Support Teacher supporting special education programming as a whole. When not supporting teachers and students, she enjoys running, kayaking, and spending time with her family camping.
