The previous six months have been an unprecedented time in modern education.  School closures have widened the achievement gap for middle and high school readers and writers.  Many students have stopped reading and writing. Join Kelly to learn strategic steps to take and tools to use to re-engage adolescent readers and writers.

DAY 1: GETTING WRITERS BACK ON TRACK

DAY 2: GETTING READERS BACK ON TRACK

  • The Power of Book Clubs / Creating a Balanced Reading Diet

REGISTRATION FEE*$250 for one day or $450 for both days

CESA 6 CANCELLATION POLICY:

Any registration cancellation must be received before Friday, July 24, 2020 in order for a full refund to be issued. Registration cancellations received after Friday, July 24th, a refund will be issued, but minus $50 for each participant in order to cover the cost of catering that was ordered and materials that were made for the participant(s).  Persons who are registered, but not in attendance on the day of the session ("no call, no show") will be charged the full registration fee. CESA 6 reserves the right to cancel any session due to insufficient enrollment. Participants will be notified by email if a cancellation occurs.

He is the former co-director of the South Basin Writing Project at California State University, Long Beach, and the former president of the Secondary Reading Group for the International Literacy Association. Kelly is the author of several books, including 180 Days: Two Teachers and the Quest to Engage and Empower Adolescents (coauthored with Penny Kittle)Readicide and Write Like This.
