It’s time to break out the Hawaiian shirts as we prepare for a beach party! CESA 7 is once again offering a free event - this time to boost reading outcomes, including summer reading.
Pam Allyn is a world-renowned literacy expert, author and motivational speaker. She is the Executive Director and Founder of LitWorld, a groundbreaking global literacy movement serving children across the United States and in more than 60 countries, and LitLife, a cutting-edge education consulting group specializing in professional development for PreK-12 literacy instruction. She is the author of 27 books for educators, leaders and families on reading, writing and quality learning, including Every Child a Super Reader (Scholastic, 2015), co-authored with Dr. Ernest Morrell. Additionally, Pam has received many awards for her work, including The Children’s Village Legacy of Service Award and the Scholastic Literacy Champion Award, both for bringing the joy and power of reading to children. She received the Distinguished Alumni Award from Teachers College, Columbia University in April 2017. Pam is featured widely in traditional press and on social media as a literacy expert for both families and educators speaking to the power of education and literacy to transform lives and to create gender and racial equity and participatory citizenship in every child.
In here keynote address - Equity, Excellence and Empathy - Pam will share how literacy is a power unto itself that confers upon children the opportunity to achieve in every subject area. She will show ways administrators can implement best practices and approaches for teachers, students and families that will ignite a reading life for every student.
In her breakout session - Literacy 365 - Pam will focus on powering success and opportunity for every student with a 365 day approach to a literacy building strategy including summer learning, extended day and family engagement.
