We are excited to welcome Sarah Johnson, one of the authors of Balance Like a Pirate, to open for our Spring Title I Coordinators meeting. Sarah will be with us in the morning where she will help us discover how to thrive as educators.

Going Beyond Work-Life Balance to Ignite Passion and Thrive as an Educator

There’s no question that educators face challenges on the job with ever increasing demands that lead to stress and put us all at risk for burnout. Coordinators often define themselves through servant leadership, tending to put others’ needs above their own and even end up sacrificing much of their personal time for their careers. It is critical to understand that we cannot take care of others without also taking care of self as we cannot pour from an empty cup. Join Sarah Johnson co-author of Balance Like a Pirate (Burgess, 2018) as she shares a framework for seeking more satisfying immersion in all aspects of your full life.

Session Outcomes:

  1. Understand why the 50/50 formula for work-life balance does not work and define a more robust framework.
  2. Identify and define the four Balance Quadrants.
  3. Self-Assess current reality for each of the quadrants in your own life.
  4. Identify at least two tips, tools, and strategies for increasing satisfaction for balance.
  5. Determine areas of strength and growth and identify both a short and long term goal to ignite passion and thrive in your personal and professional life.

The afternoon will be spent networking with colleagues around Title I spring timelines and updates, while putting into practice some of Sarah's tips for balancing our work flow. Please join us for an uplifting day of learning and collegiality.

This workshop is offered at a no cost to those districts participating in the Title I Network.
