Description: This session is designed to leverage the inquiry approach of the newly revised Wisconsin Standards for Social Studies as a method to support the integration of other required content areas through authentic, interdisciplinary learning experiences. Participants will explore connections to American Indian Studies (AIS), Wisconsin Standards for Environmental Literacy and Sustainability (ELS), and the Wisconsin Standards for Information and Technology Literacy (ITLS) in the social studies classroom.
Session Focus/Topics:
* Understand state requirements that may not be reflected in the new social studies standards
* Become familiar with the Wisconsin ELS and ITLS
* Brainstorm authentic ways to incorporate AIS, ELS & ITLS requirements into the curriculum
* Draft an action plan for learning about AIS/ELS.ITLS Equity
Each Participant Must Bring:
* Laptop or tablet
Recommended Attendees: Social studies teachers, EL & Special Education Teachers, Instructional Leaders, Curriculum Directors, Principals
Cost/Fee: CESA 7 District - $65 and Non-CESA 7 District - $100.00 (Includes Lunch and Materials.)
