Kelly Gallagher, California educator and author of several ELA educational titles, including Readicide, Write Like This, In the Best Interest of Students, and 180 Days (co-authored with Penny Kittle) visits CESA 3 for a two-day workshop to help ELA educators do what's best for their students.  June 18-19, 2020.

The cost of the two-day workshop is $500.  Districts sending three or more teachers will pay $450 per individual.

Kelly Gallagher teaches English Language Arts at Magnolia High School in Anaheim, California, where he has worked for nearly 35 years. He is the former co-director of the South Basin Writing Project at California State University, Long Beach, and the former president of the Secondary Reading Group for the International Literacy Association. 12:30-2:00              Session 3: Assessing and Grading Practices that Encourage Growth in Young Writers

 

Day 2 Focus on Reading (VIRTUAL TRAINING)

 

8:00-9:30                Session 1: It Begins with Volume: Engaging Young Readers 

 

9:30-10:00                         Break

 

10:00-11:30            Session 2: Practices That Deepen Student Reading

 

11:30-12:30            Lunch

 

12:30-2:00              Session 3: The Power of Book Clubs/Creating a Balanced Reading Diet

 

 

Participant Cancellation Policy: You must contact CESA #3 at least one week prior to the scheduled event to cancel and receive a full refund of your registration fee. Cancellations not received at least one week prior to the registered event will be charged the full registration fee. CESA #3 reserves the right to cancel any workshop due to insufficient enrollment. Participants will be notified by e-mail or phone if a workshop is cancelled. If a participant is a 'no show' the school will be billed for the registration fee, or loss of the 'free' attendance slot. Accommodations: If you need an accommodation to participate including interpreter services (sign language or other spoken language) please email the workshop contact to set up these services. A two-week notice is appreciated. CESA #3 is handicapped accessible.
