Description: This session is designed for elementary teams involved in social studies standards rollout, particularly participants who have attended other social studies rollout trainings. An exciting component of the revised standards is increased structure for districts who want it for K-5. The standards are sorted into grade level bands (K-2, 3-5), but also into grade level suggestions for teaching and learning. In addition, an appendix for a suggested K-5 scope & sequence for social studies offers a foundation for districts to open discussions about what they want their students to know and be able to do in social studies before leaving 5th grade. Dig deep and build a quality elementary social studies program!
