Extracting Information from Text...And Writing About It! Generating Argument and Informative Text Writing

This hands-on, interactive workshop will engage participants in strategies to help students extract information from text, effectively write for different purposes, and improve their own writing through the revision process. Participants will:
•Develop strategies to facilitate student understanding of text.
•Practice the planning stages of genre-specific writing using effective templates and text-generating activities.
•Learn useful scaffolding strategies for helping students of all abilities to develop effective writing for different purposes.
•Discuss the differences between proofreading, revision, and editing and learn best practices to model the revision process.
