How do the WI Standards for Social Studies tie to Disciplinary Literacy?
This workshop is intended for middle school and high school social studies teachers.
The Wisconsin Standards for Literacy in All Subjects, adopted in 2011, require all teachers, K-12, in every content area, to consider discipline-appropriate literacy techniques (also known as disciplinary literacy) with their students.
Disciplinary literacy (DL) in social studies means that teachers are using thoughtfully chosen literacy techniques to teach students social studies objectives (instead of using social studies to learn literacy objectives).
Learn connections between the two documents, resources for incorporating DL into classrooms and curriculum, and have time to review your existing curriculum for gaps.
Pricing is $150 for individuals
Teams of four will be $400 and $100 for each additional team member.

Team discounts will be applied at the time of billing.)
Participant Cancellation Policy:
You must contact CESA 4 to cancel attendance one week prior to the scheduled event unless otherwise stated in the individual event details. CESA 4 will only provide full refund of registration fees depending on individual circumstances. Refunds depend upon the ability of CESA 4 to cancel any financial obligations created by the registration such as meals, materials, etc. CESA 4 reserves the right to cancel any workshop due to insufficient enrollment. Participants will be notified by e-mail or phone if a workshop is cancelled. If a participant is a 'no show' the school will be billed for the registration fee, or loss of the 'free' attendance slot.
Dietary Restrictions:
Because of the number of meals served, number of ingredients used, and food product changes from vendors, we cannot guarantee dietary restrictions as indicated in a user's myQuickReg profile will be accommodated. Participants with dietary restrictions such as food allergies should plan to bring their own refreshments.
Weather Conditions:
If a workshop has been cancelled due to weather conditions, every effort will be made to reschedule the workshop. If weather conditions are questionable, please call CESA 4 Voice Mail at (608) 786-4800; Toll Free (800) 514-3075. A message will be posted regarding workshop weather cancellations.
Additional Accommodations:
