Creating Individualized Language Plans For English Learners

Facilitated by:

Sarah Lawton and Lori Menning - Language and Culture Center Consultants

  • Are you familiar with the new Individualized Language Plan (ILP)?
  • Will you be responsible for creating, introducing or implementing ILPs for your ELs?
  • How can the WIDA Standards and Can Do Descriptors be used to align individual student goals?

The ILP is a written plan for an EL which details strategies, accommodations, and supports to be implemented in the classroom and on assessments.  This plan is currently outlined in the DPI EL Policy Handbook Draft and is to be implemented for the 2019-2020 school year. The ILP should be created by the student’s classroom teachers in consultation with EL staff.

Workshop objectives:

  • The goal of this workshop is to familiarize you with the new Individualized Language Plan and provide you the information and resources to write them.
  • The afternoon will be dedicated to reviewing ACCESS data and creating ILPs that capture the linguistic supports for your ELs.

Who should attend?

Anyone who will be responsible for creating, introducing or implementing ILPs for their ELs. Teaching teams are encouraged to attend.

  • $75 per participant for CESA 6 Title III Consortium members
  • $150 per participant for Non-Consortium Members

To better serve our guests with dietary restrictions or allergies, please go into your myQuickReg account and update the special accommodations section. Notice of a special dietary need must be made in advance of the event.
