Description:
Participants in this hands-on course will examine the new learning environment for teachers and students made possible through the effective use of Web 2.0 online tools. Learn how easy it is to collaborate with colleagues on a shared word processing or spreadsheet document, brainstorm with wikis, search for Creative Commons photos for students to use in multimedia projects, locate educational video clips and animations to highlight lessons, bring newspaper headlines directly to you through RSS feeds, and use a delicious way to organize your favorite web sites. Participants will also discuss best practice examples and methodologies for assessing the impact of these Web 2.0 tools on instruction and identify ways that they can be effectively used in their classrooms. Participants will use their new knowledge to develop a unit or project incorporating one or more Web 2.0 tools into their classroom curriculum and/or for professional development activities.
Please bring a portable computer with wireless Internet capabilities.
