EL: Getting Started With English Learners

Is your district experiencing an increase of English Learners (ELs)?
Are you struggling to meet the academic, social, and emotional needs of your ELs?

This workshop is designed to teach practical strategies and share resources to support ELs. Attendees will receive a variety of ready-to-use resources to assist in getting started with ELs.

Workshop objectives:

• Prepare school staff to effectively educate ELs

• Understand how to address cultural issues with ELs

• Learn how to support ELs in acquiring academic English

• Utilize specific strategies for teaching ELs

Who should attend?

• Any staff new to teaching ELs

Registration fee:

FREE (up to 6 participants) to CESA 6 Immigrant Grant Districts (see registration site for list of districts)  

CESA 6 Title III Consortium members  

$75 per participant

CESA 6 ELL Network member  

$100 per participant  

All other districts, $150 per participant

Cancellation Policy:

Any registration cancellation must be received at least 8 business days before event in order for a full conference fee refund to be issued (full refunds do not include service fees. Service fees are nonrefundable).Registration cancellations received 1-7 business days before an event, a refund, minus $50 for each participant, will be issued. Persons who are registered, but not in attendance on the day of the session ("no call, no show") will be charged the full registration fee. CESA 6 reserves the right to cancel any session due to insufficient enrollment. Participants will be notified by email if a cancellation occurs.
