Join Jessica Johnson, co-author of The Coach Approach to School Leadership: Leading Teachers to Higher Levels of Effectiveness (ASCD, 2017) to dig into the most impactful way to lead your school--with a Coach Approach.

Principals wear many hats and the most impactful hat to prioritize is the Coaching Hat! No matter what evaluation system is used by a school/district, the overall goal is teacher effectiveness for improved student learning. Coaching is a valuable practice to improve instruction and learning and is shared as one of the “hats”, and most important hat, that leaders can wear while leading.

In this full day workshop we will:

  • Explore why instructional coaching approaches are vital, as well as how to make the shift from primarily being an evaluator/manager to serving as a learning leader utilizing coaching techniques.
  • Practice and refine our coaching skills including relationship building, reflective dialogue and facilitation techniques.
  • Focus on time management/organizational strategies for administrators to be able to create time for being in classrooms.  While you can be skilled at coaching conversations, you’ll never have the opportunity to put this into practice if you can’t get out of your office!
  • Explore ways of transforming teaching and learning into a team sport to nurture a Coach Approach Culture in your school.
  • Have dedicated time to reflect, plan and discuss your plan to impact your school with a Coach Approach!

Be ready for an interactive, reflective and inspiring day to prepare you to put on your coaching hat!
