Dates & Times: Thursday, October 20, 2011 (Session I) and Wednesday, November 16, 2011 (Session II) from 9:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. each day

Facilitator: Scott Caldwell

Training Description: Participants will learn how to use an evidence-based and flexible Brief Intervention (BI) method to help students address a variety of behavioral concerns, including alcohol/drug involvement. Within PBIS, BI is considered a Tier II or Tier III strategy.
 
The first session will provide the nuts and bolts of BI as well as experiential skill building in the method. Following this session, participants are expected to try out BI, tape record a 20 minute BI session, and submit the tape to the trainer for review. In the second session, tapes with individualized feedback will be returned to each participant and skill building will continue.

Who Should Attend: Middle/High School Student Services (social workers, psychologists and counselors)

Graduate Credit: One graduate credit is available! Additional cost of $200 for one credit through Viterbo University.  Credit Registration and fee paid on first day of class.  Must attend both days.

Cost: $150/network members, $225/non-network members (Marshfield, Mauston, Reedsburg, Stevens Point, Waupaca, Wild Rose & WI Rapids)

Cancellation Policy: Registered participants will receive a full refund if they cancel before 10 working days before an event, minus any material costs that have already been incurred. Because of our commitment to the trainer and the food vendor, participants who cancel less than 10 working days or do not attend, will be billed the full fee. CESA 5 reserves the right to cancel any event. Registered participants will be notified via email if a cancellation occurs and will receive a full refund. Inclement weather policy: Every effort will be made to hold an event. CESA 5 will notify participants via email as soon as possible if an event has been canceled due to weather conditions.
