This workshop is a good fit for staff of school districts that are using a workshop framework and that are using Units of Study. Teachers should be covering an average of six to eight units per school year in reading and writing. This workshop series will cover additional units that could be placed in the timeline for the year. Two units will be shared for each reading and writing workshop.

OBJECTIVES

  • Understand overview of an If…Then… unit for Reading and Writing Workshop.
  • Connect standards and review essential questions for each unit.
  • Review materials to prepare for the unit, assessment options, and mentor texts.
  • Explore mini-lessons and create anchor charts.


WHO SHOULD ATTEND?

Kindergarten teachers, Literacy Coaches, Reading Specialists, Principals, and Curriculum and Instruction Directors.

 

PARTICIPANTS SHOULD BRING:

  • A laptop
  • Unit resources for If…Then… units

 

REGISTRATION FEE*: $150 per participant

  • Includes lunch and access to electronic materials and resources.
  • * Principals’ registration fee is just $35 if attending with a team of at least 4 staff members.

CANCELLATION POLICY: Any registration cancellation must be received at least 8 business days before event in order for a full refund to be issued. Registration cancellations received 1-7 business days before an event, a refund, minus $50 for each participant, will be issued. Persons who are registered, but not in attendance on the day of the session ("no call, no show") will be charged the full registration fee. CESA 6 reserves the right to cancel any session due to insufficient enrollment. Participants will be notified by email if a cancellation occurs.
