This series of workshops is geared to meet the needs of initial educators. It is designed to equip first year teachers with the knowledge, attitudes, behaviors, and skills they require to perform their tasks effectively in the classroom, school, and wider community. This four-part series will focus on routines and procedures, classroom environment, professionalism in schools, classroom management, student engagement, and learning objectives. Based upon the needs of schools, we will offer this as a virtual option.

Dates and Topics

  • September 24: Professionalism in schools
  • November 12: Routines and procedures, classroom environment
  • February 18: Classroom management and student engagement
  • May 6: Student engagement and learning objectives

Each participant needs to bring a copy of the book - The First Days of School: How to be an Effective Teacher 4th Edition(2009) by Harry and Rosemary Wong to the sessions.

Registration fees for these workshops will be covered through the Peer Review Mentoring Grant pending approval.
Please note: sandwiches and a beverage will be served. If your mentor is attending, please contact Chris Larson at clarson@cesa7.org to be added to the count for the sandwiches.
Due to changing policies in many of our CESA 7 School District accounting offices, CESA 7 requests that all workshop fees be paid in advance with a check or purchase order. If it is not possible for you to secure payment from your school district prior to the workshop, we suggest that you pay personally and request reimbursement from your school district. Receipts will be available. CANCELLATIONS: Cancellations must be faxed (920-492-5965) or e-mailed five (5) working days prior to the date of the event. We are unable to provide refunds for no shows. DIETARY ACCOMMODATIONS: Due to varied dietary restrictions, CESA 7 cannot guarantee that all special dietary accommodations can be met. CESA 7 makes every effort to accommodate basic dietary restrictions with advance notice, but please plan accordingly.
