Objectives for this 2 day workshop:
Day 1 (September 25, 2018):
- Identify red flags for language disorders in the EL population
- Complete a guided reflection based on an EL student from your school/district
- Receive a “toolkit” to support documenting concerns prior to referral
- Increase collaboration between special education staff and EL staff during the evaluation process
Day 2 (November 1, 2018)
- Document the need for a bilingual evaluation
- Identify appropriate formal and informal assessment measures for bilingual students,
- Work most efficiently with interpreters.
- Differentiate how you write bilingual, versus monolingual, evaluation report
