This training is designed to assist Paraprofessionals and classroom support personnel to develop techniques to deal with behavior management and provide instructional support. This program will be divided into a morning and afternoon session.

The morning session will focus on the ABCs of behavior management which helps adults understand the differences between Aggressive students, students Breaking rules, and Confrontational students. In addition to understanding the characteristics of each type of behavior, practical suggestions and methods will be provided to help with behaviors occurring in your school.

In the afternoon session, participants will be introduced to Guided Reading and Math instructional practices and methods designed to help classroom teachers during instructional groups.

Learning objectives include:

  • Understand the differences between aggressive, confrontational, and students breaking rules.
  • Engage in practical methods designed to address student behavior.
  • Share and collaborate with other Paraprofessionals, and problem solve areas of need at your schools related to behavior and classroom instructional methods.
  • Return to your school with ideas for practical solutions around behavior.
  • Be exposed to "Best Practices" related to Guided Reading and Math classroom practices.
  • Discuss and understand how Paraprofessionals can best support classroom teachers during instructional group times.

This workshop is offered at no cost to CESA 10 districts participating in LS1. The cost for all other CESA 10 districts will be $175 per participant. Invoicing for this event will be updated once all 2018-19 Service Contracts and Agreements have been received.
