Why drones? With robotics and drones becoming so prolific in society, the knowledge and skills required to operate and program UAVs is now a necessary technological literacy. Two of the nation’s fastest growing jobs are drone operators and robot/drone programmers! A key element of teaching with drones is the concept of incidental learning. Students become so completely engaged by the use of the drone that they are not focused on the fact that they are applying concepts from course content. The inclusion of drones also allows teachers to differentiate lessons and reach students who may not be interested in the subject matter.
You will learn how utilize the two Parrot mini drone kits: The (wheeled) Jumping Race Drones and the (flying) Mambo Drones. One of the really cool features of these drones is that they can be easily programmed using Tynker coding. You will be trained in how to do and teach this.
