Working with gifted kids can be both challenging and daunting. As educators, we must pay careful attention to the academic needs, as well as the social and emotional needs of our students. In this workshop, you and your middle school students will join Jackie and Dal Drummer, nationally certified SENG (Supporting the Emotional Needs of Gifted) trainers, and current members on the Wisconsin Association for Talented and Gifted board of directors. Together, the Drummers have 94 years of experience working with students, parents, and educators in the five areas of giftedness. They will share their expertise while working with your students, and will help build your coaching expertise to support the social and emotional needs of your students. Topics explored will include: what it means to be gifted (the good, the bad, and the awesome), communication, perfectionism, stress, peer relationships, family and self expectations, safe risk taking, and pursuit of excellence. This day is guaranteed to be filled with fun, and growth for all.
Presenters: Jackie and Dal Drummer, certified SENG Trainers
