Center Goal: To support content expertise and high quality pedagogical practices in middle year’s science classrooms, grades 5-9. Currently under-construction collaboratively between CESA 6 and scientists
from the University of Wisconsin Madison.

This center is a component of CESA 6’s partnership with the Wisconsin Leads Project and is intended to be implemented as a
2-3 year sustained professional development opportunity to support teacher capacity to promote deep understanding of essential science concepts.

This professional development is designed to be an ongoing process to improve science instruction at the middle year’s
classroom level by:

  • scientists from UW-Madison building content expertise for instruction
  • observing, critiquing and reflecting on high quality classroom science instruction modeled by experts in science,
  • accessing on-line teacher resources for technology integration, curriculum, assessment, instruction and feedback,
  • ongoing coaching and feedback on classroom practices
  • participating in facilitated networking time for teachers to share classroom practices, resources, materials and ideas, and building strong relationships within the cohort of teachers.

Cost: $800.00 per person (includes $700.00 registration fee and $100.0 materials fee)
