Paraprofessionals play an important role in the success of students and schools. This training is designed for all paras, from beginner to advanced, and will provide you with beneficial skills and strategies. Choose from a wide variety of breakout sessions that will transform your profession!
KEYNOTE by Ivy Evrard:
Finding Your Voice: Promoting Self-Determination, Challenging Assumptions, and Cultivating Change
Ivy, an advocate and young adult recovering from mental illness, will share her story of resilience and experiences from elementary school to adulthood. She will share strategies on how adults in the school environment can help students with planning, organization, and self-determination skills. Her mom, Jenny, will also share her perspective on raising a daughter with mental health challenges and the difficult task of letting go.
Ivy Evrard
Ivy’s Bio:
Ivy is a Trained Peer Specialist and community activist on behalf of young adults living with mental illness. Ivy has co-presented “Ending the Silence” at local high schools and at youth conferences around the state of Wisconsin. She has been an active volunteer with NAMI Fox Valley for several years and currently facilitates bi-weekly young adult peer support groups through NAMI Fox Valley.
Jenny Evrard-Larson
Jenny’s Bio:
Jenny is a Wisconsin Special Education Regional Service Network Coordinator for CESA 6. She taught special education in public schools for 15 years and served as a Special Education Program Support Teacher and Special Education Director. Jenny is also the mother of a child living with mental illness. Jenny draws on her experience in both her professional and personal life to promote trauma sensitive schools and childhood mental health awareness.

Registrations ARE transferable within your organization. CESA 5 WILL NOT CANCEL THE EVENT DUE TO INCLEMENT WEATHER. CESA 5 reserves the right to cancel any event. Registrants will be notified via email if a cancellation occurs and will receive a full refund. This policy replaces the cancellation policy stated below.
