The academy for literacy acquisition is a comprehensive reading training for all educators who work with young readers or struggling readers.  This course will focus on enhancing a research-informed knowledge base and quality instruction of the key elements of an effective early reading program.  Participants will gain an understanding of what grade-specific goals are critical for enabling students to be proficient readers by the end of third grade.  The training will build capacity to teach within any reading program and improve outcomes for all students.

Each session will explore the “HOW” of the topic:

  • How the skills develop
  • How to assess the development of the skill and what kind of instruction is necessary
  • How to differentiate instruction at varying points of development

Audience: 4K-3rd grade teachers, special education teachers, interventionists, reading specialists, literacy coaches
