Digging into Unique High School Opportunities and Challenges with the New Wisconsin Standards for Science (and NGSS) - 719-762

The new Wisconsin Standards for Science, which are very similar to the NGSS, pose unique challenges at the high school level, though we also have an opportunity for improvement that may only come around every 14 years. In this session we will:

• Dig into 3D high school level instruction and assessment, particularly considering challenges of “content coverage,”
• Share experiences with connecting AP to the NGSS, particularly with the practices and crosscutting concepts,
• Consider what college and career ready means in relation to HS science,
• Connect to the ACT College and Career Readiness Standards and Aspire Performance Level Descriptors,
• Share work on course sequences and equivalency with other subjects (like ag, food science, PLTW, etc.),
• Discuss the minor differences between the WSS and NGSS.

A significant portion of the day will be dedicated to networking and sharing!

Cancellation Policy: Registered participants will receive a refund if they cancel prior to 3 working days before an event, minus any material costs that have already been incurred. Inclement Weather Policy: Every effort will be made to hold an event. CESA 2 will notify participants via email as soon as possible if an event has been cancelled due to weather conditions.

In-Person Events: Restrictions on our in-person events due to COVID-19 have been lifted. We will be responsive to what's happening within our communities, and guidelines from the CDC and local health agencies for future offerings and will update guidelines when necessary.
