The Component One assessment is worth 40% of a candidate’s total score.  Roll Up Your Sleeves, full-day workshop, actively engages attendees in the preparation process.  This is a highly interactive day, offering candidates Wisconsin’s first, hands-on guidance to Component One.

Why enrolling in Roll Up Your Sleeves is Crucial:  Component One, the assessment center testing, encompasses the largest portion of certification percentage value, yet mentors/programs traditionally offer the least skilled preparation for its onset.  It is not unusual for candidates to become engrossed in the preparation of the other three scholarly components.  Preparation for Component One is neglected.   Taken without dedication to the skill sets required to reveal each candidate’s best practices, the assessment center scores are reflective.   Roll Up Your Sleeves Workshop commits an entire day to guiding candidates towards recognizing and actually initiating development of those skills sets.

Who Should Attend:  The Component One Assessment Center may be taken during the summer months window, at any point in a candidate’s process.  There are benefits and drawbacks to initiating or ending candidacy process with Component One.  Roll Up Your Sleeves is best taken between four to six weeks prior to completing this 40% valued component.  Potential attendees are:

  • NBCT candidates at any stage, preparing for Component One
  • NBCT mentors seeking improved practice
  • Teachers who are considering national board candidacy

What are the clear-cut objectives for Roll Up Your Sleeves? 1) Candidates will engage in four, Component One preparation activities, 2) Candidates will leave with a comprehensive understanding of how to intelligently continue Component One preparation.

Participants should bring their own laptop or device.

Event cost $150
