All workshops will be held at CESA 8 from 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM daily
The academy is a comprehensive reading training for early literacy educators. This course will focus on enhancing a research-informed knowledge base and quality instruction of the key elements of an effective reading program: phonemic awareness, decoding, vocabulary development, fluency, and comprehension. This four-day plan will engage teachers in research exploration, practical, hands-on sample lesson models, collegial discourse, protocols for literacy assessment, and alignment with state standards. Participants will gain a view of the current state of reading education, key literacy concepts, teaching tips and intervention strategies as they strengthen instructional pedagogy and explore classroom applications with other early literacy educators throughout the region. The training will build capacity to teach within any reading program and improve outcome for all students.
