This round table discussion is designed for ELL coordinators or district leaders who have been assigned the duty of “leading the charge” to serve ELLs in your district. Whether you are a new coordinator or have worn this hat previously but not sure if you are heading down the right path, we can help you build background knowledge and guide you in the process to serve ELLs. We will provide answers to foundational questions (no question too simple) as well as more complex topics that you need to know as an ELL Coordinator. Topics that will be addressed include:

  • Calendar ELL responsibilities
  • ELL Foundations: Give me the basics please!
  • What am I required by law to do as the coordinator?
  • What help can I get from CESA 5 in designing a program?
  • How can I help mainstream teachers learn how to work with ENGLISH LANGUAGE LEARNERS?

With the limited amount of time and resources our schools have today, we will help you answer these questions and support mainstream teachers who are working with the growing population of ELLs. Districts are encouraged to bring a coordinator and/or an assistant who my be also responsible for meeting Title III requirements. Districts will receive:

  • An ELL resource book for your school’s professional development library
  • A copy of the WIDA Resource Handbook that includes the WIDA standards. These standards are also available for download at www.wida.us
  • A teacher’s survival guide for working with ELLs.Access to the consortium wiki developed exclusively for member districts

Cost: $35 CESA 5 Title III Consortium Members
$125 CESA 5 Center Members
$200 All others
