In this workshop, Kevin Anderson, DPI Science Education Consultant, will facilitate a continuation of the work from the fall session. (Attendance at the fall session is NOT required for this session.)
Participants will:
- Revisit lesson & assessment development using Wisconsin science standards, the NRC Framework for Science Education, and the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS).
- Convene ‘like’ workgroups to develop assessments & lessons
- Discuss standards implementation in their school & district
- Network with their peers
Presenter: Dr. Kevin Anderson, DPI Science Education Consultant. Kevin received his Ph.D. from the Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis in 2012, with a focus on K-16 educational leadership and policy. He received his bachelor's in sociology and master's in social sciences in education from Stanford University. Kevin was previously the school improvement consultant at Cooperative Educational Service Agency #2 (CESA) supporting teachers and administrators in improving STEM programs. His career and research focuses on evaluating effectiveness of STEM education policy and using a better understanding of professional epistemologies to improve STEM education. He is currently leading the charge to set up a statewide Wisconsin STEM network.
