Workshop Description:
Have you ever wondered why some policy initiatives are successful and some aren't? Or how on earth people misunderstood the message? Well, it's about being strategic, thoughtful and CRAFTING the message - and it doesn't just happen serendipitously. So, we are planning a special day to support your policy work and it should be productive and energizing.
Loren Niemi from Minneapolis will be spending Tuesday, April 26, 2011 with our coalitions to help them craft their message around a specific policy that they plan to address this year. It will be held at the Holiday Inn Madison-West (same location as past Southern Alliance Meetings). This will be a valuable day to really walk through the process of identifying the best story to tell for the right audience and reduce it to it's essential elements so that it will be heard and will be persuasive. For more information on Loren Niemi, check him out at http://www.storytelling.org/Niemi/
We are able to provide this training at no cost to you. You will want to bring a team of 3-7 people from your coalition so that you can do your best work in crafting a message that will be used. The best message will NOT be one formulated by staff but by your grass roots folks - with staff to then support them in making it happen.
We need to cap this event at about 30 people so the sooner you register, the sooner you'll be guaranteed an opportunity to participate in this event. We will have some advance work that you'll want to do before the workshop so we can hit the ground running. We'll have more on that later. Right now, just start the conversation to ensure that you will have a team that is ready and willing to take on some serious policy work.
Cost: None
Bring: A team of 3-7 people from your coalition
