CESA 9 will be running a workshop on Early Childhood Mental Health. This workshop will feature presentations by Lynn Verage, Julia Stavran, and Beth Tepper.
Lynn Verage, CESA 9 Regional Coordinator for the Wisconsin Safe & Healthy Schools Center, will be providing an overview of the Wisconsin School Mental Health Framework, including adult attitudes that lead to engagement of students with mental health challenges. She will also briefly discuss Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), which includes the prevalence of trauma and the health risks associated with ACEs.
Julia Stavran from Northern Regional Center for Children and Youth with Special Health Care Needs (CYSHCN) will address referrals to community resources for mental health.
Beth Tepper, Early Childhood Program Support, will also spend time discussing mindfulness, brain breaks, and other developmentally appropriate activities to meet the needs of young children and their mental health.
