Instructional Coaching 101 Workshop
Three full-day sessions using Jim Knight text Instructional Coaching: A Partnership Approach
According to University of Kansas researcher Jim Knight, the chances of a teacher implementing a new instructional skill in the classroom after a single workshop is about 10%. Add modeling, practice and feedback to that training, and the percentage of implementation only increases to 16-19%. But add coaching to the training, and implementation increases to 95%! It's clear that instructional coaching increases the likelihood of teacher effectiveness, which in turn increases student success.
This 3-session course will help educators and administrators develop skills to lead through coaching models in their school district. Effective coaches build positive, trusting, relationships with staff in order to foster growth in professional practice. Training coaches and sourcing their efforts leads to proven wide range fidelity of school change.
Participants will develop an understanding of the differences between traditional professional development, traditional supervisory and mentoring models, and instructional coaching.
-
Participants will interpret current models of instructional coaching in order to determine the right fit in the coaching cycle
-

-
