Rowena Mak is the Director of World Languages and ELL at Adlai E. Stevenson High School in Lincolnshire, Illinois. Before becoming director, she taught and served as team leader of various courses including AP Spanish Language, AP Spanish Literature, and Spanish 2 Accelerated, a pre-AP Spanish course. In her role as director of World Languages, Ms. Mak oversees the curriculum and instructional development of over 30 teachers of six different languages. She facilitates various professional development sessions for language teachers including vertical articulation between levels and between school districts. In helping teams build leadership capacity, Ms. Mak focuses her work on leading collaborative conversations and promoting teamwork that moves beyond collegiality and coordination.

The primary goal for the workshop will be to assist participants in becoming effective team leaders within their PLCs.
To achieve that goal the following topics will be covered:

  • How to establish clear team goals that are data driven and can be monitored efficiently
  • How to bring the "best from all" team members
  • How to develop worthwhile meeting agendas
  • How to manage time efficiently during meetings
  • How to establish long-term as well as immediate team goals

 * Participants who attended last year’s workshop can consult with Rowena to determine what aspects of the workshop can be customized to meet your needs at this time. If you are interested in this option, contact John Meinke at meinkej@cesa5.k12.wi.us for more information.

Cost: $75 for CESA 5 Center Members, $150 for all others
