4 Week Online Course MAY 1, 2017 - MAY 29, 2017
Participants in this online course will identify and assess online learning resources that support writing in the English Language Arts classroom, and other core classrooms, K-12. Students will read and learn about the English Language Crosswalk document, created by DPI staff, which lays out the Common Core State Standards aligned with the Wisconsin Information and Technology Literacy Standards and the AASL-Standards for the 21st Century Learner. They will then look for online learning objects, lesson plans, resources and tools that support cross-curricular English Language Arts instruction. The class will then learn about a DPI approved set of assessment rubrics called ACHIEVE and practice using these rubrics. Lastly, students will evaluate their online resources to see if they can be entered into a database of resources. This instruction will happen online or via Collaborate online webinar meetings, lead by a trained lead from Cooperative Educational Service Agencies 12.
Participants will discuss best practice examples and methodologies for assessing the impact of these tools on instruction. They will also use a Google Form to add their data to the bank of resources. Participants will use their new knowledge to develop a lesson plan or project incorporating one of these new online resources into their classroom curriculum. This lesson plan will be due one week following the end of the class.
