This seven session course  (3 face-to-face and 4 online) will focus on learning about and supporting the implementation of assessment practices in the mathematics classroom.  Formative assessment practices that promote student ownership of learning and the sharing and monitoring of learning goals through peer and self-assessment will guide our work. We will be using resources developed by Cheryl Rose Tobey, Susan Creighton, and Emily Fagan, from the Educational Development Center (EDC).

Learning outcomes will include:

  1. Participants will explore key research findings about formative and interim assessment practices in mathematics.
  2. Participants will explore numerous, ready-to-use tools and resources for learning about and supporting the implementation of formative assessment practices in the mathematics classroom.
  3. Participants will understand the connection between these practices and other state initiatives.

This session is offered at no cost to CESA 10 districts participating in Title IIA and STEM (Abbotsford, Altoona, Augusta, Bloomer, Bruce, Cadott, Chippewa Falls, Colby, Cornell, Eau Claire, Eleva-Strum, Gilman, Gilmanton, Granton, Greenwood, Lake Holcombe, Loyal, Neillsville, New Auburn, Osseo-Fairchild, Owen-Withee, Spencer, Stanley-Boyd, and Thorp).
